Tuberculosis still affects many families in Nigeria, yet many people do not recognize its early signs or seek testing in time. This project will organize a community awareness hike in Abuja that brings together residents and health experts for public education. Participants will receive clear information on symptoms, prevention, and treatment, and receive referrals for free tuberculosis testing and care. There will also be short health talks and Q and A sessions to engage participants.
Tuberculosis remains a major public health concern in Nigeria. Many people are unaware of the early signs of the disease and delay testing or treatment. Fear and misunderstanding also prevent people from seeking medical care. Without public education and community engagement, the disease can continue to spread within households and communities.
