This project will establish the only safe home in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for women and children fleeing domestic violence. Redwood SVG will provide emergency shelter, counseling, legal aid, and life-skills support to survivors who currently have nowhere safe to go. This safe home will protect lives, restore dignity, and help families rebuild free from violence.
In Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, women and children fleeing domestic violence have no dedicated safe house to turn to. Survivors are often forced to remain with abusers or face homelessness and further harm. RedRoot SVG regularly receives urgent requests for shelter but cannot safely house survivors because no permanent facility exists. Women and children in crisis are the most affected.
This project will purchase a building to establish the only Safe Home on the island. Redwood SVG will convert the property into a secure refuge providing emergency shelter, counseling, legal aid, and life-skills support for women and children escaping abuse. Owning the building ensures long-term safety, confidentiality, and immediate access to protection for survivors in crisis.
By purchasing a permanent Safe Home, this project will provide lasting protection for hundreds of women and children over time. Survivors will gain safety, stability, and support to rebuild independent lives, breaking cycles of abuse. The community benefits from reduced violence, stronger families, and a sustainable system of care that will protect lives for generations
