Thank you for standing with American Aid (A A Relief) as we launch our first quarterly update for “Help Families Losing SNAP: Build DMV Food Pantry.” Across the DMV, thousands of working families are being pushed into crisis as SNAP benefits end, food prices remain 25% higher, and local pantries are overwhelmed. This project is our community’s answer: a permanent, dignified pantry model—no applications, no limits, no judgment—just food for neighbors who need it most.

While we are still at the very beginning of fundraising, this first reporting period is focused on establishing the foundation to scale quickly as donations grow and to ensure every dollar translates into measurable, transparent food access for families.

Progress Update (This Quarter) Project Launch & Readiness

Since this is our first report and the campaign has just begun, our focus this quarter was on program readiness and operational planning so we can move immediately as funding increases. Key steps included:

• Strengthening our pantry distribution model to ensure dignified access for families losing SNAP—minimizing barriers, paperwork, and delays.
• Advancing coordination plans with local partners (food banks, farms, and community volunteers) to support weekly distributions of nutritious food boxes and fresh produce.
• Preparing a tracking and documentation approach so we can report clearly on outputs such as families served, food boxes distributed, distribution frequency, and emergency supply support as the pantry begins operating at scale.

Community Need & Food Security Urgency

The need in our region remains immediate and severe:

• In 2025, 32 states cut SNAP benefits, removing 3 million people from assistance.
• Food costs remain 25% higher, while many families face job loss and unstable income.
• Emergency food requests have increased by 40%, and 1 in 6 DMV families now faces food insecurity.

Behind every statistic is a parent skipping meals so their children can eat, a senior choosing between groceries and medicine, and a working family doing everything “right” but still falling behind. Our goal is to meet this moment with a permanent solution built for long-term stability.

Program Model (What Funding Will Deliver)

Once funded, American Aid (A A Relief) will build and operate the DMV Community Food Pantry to provide ongoing, dignified food access, including:

• Weekly distributions of nutritious food boxes for families facing SNAP loss and crisis.
• Fresh produce access through partnerships with local farms and food networks.
• Emergency supplies for families experiencing sudden hardship.
• A consistent pantry model with no applications, no limits, and no wait lists.
• Volunteer-powered operations to maximize impact per dollar and strengthen community ownership.
• A community-centered hub connecting families to supportive pathways (job training referrals, SNAP re-enrollment guidance, and other stabilizing resources as partnerships expand).

Challenges & Strategic Response
Primary Challenge: Funding is at the earliest stage ($100 raised toward $100,000)

The need is urgent, but building a permanent pantry requires resources to secure consistent supply, distribution capacity, storage/logistics, and the operational structure to serve families reliably week after week.

Our response this quarter:

• Building a scalable plan so we can begin serving immediately as donations increase (including phased growth).
• Strengthening partner coordination to reduce costs and maximize the number of families reached per dollar.
• Prioritizing transparency and measurable reporting from day one so supporters can clearly see progress and outcomes.

Next Quarter Plan (Pending Funding Growth)

In the next quarter, as funding increases, we will:

1. Launch/expand initial pantry distributions, prioritizing families most impacted by SNAP loss and urgent food insecurity.
2. Begin reporting concrete outputs such as food boxes distributed, produce provided, and households reached.
3. Strengthen the pantry’s supply pipeline through partner coordination and volunteer mobilization to support consistent weekly service.

Expected Long-Term Impact

With full implementation, this pantry will drive lasting stability for DMV families:

• Families can redirect limited income toward rent, utilities, and medical needs without sacrificing meals.
• Children arrive at school well-fed and ready to learn, improving attendance and outcomes.
• Parents avoid predatory debt and crisis spirals caused by food insecurity.
