Throughout May and June 2025, we continued our unwavering support for cancer patients across Ukraine people facing life-threatening illnesses amid the ongoing war. –
In May, our program reached 431 individuals, delivering 1,200 units of oncology medications. In June, we provided essential treatment to 427 patients, distributing a total of 1,258 life-saving drug units.
These medications were distributed directly by Mission Kharkiv several times a week at the Kharkiv Institute of Medical Radiology and Oncology and the Lviv Oncology Treatment and Diagnostic Center. This was made possible thanks to our two approved temperature-controlled storage facilities: the Cold Bunker in Kharkiv and the Christian Medical Association’s warehouse in Lviv.
Our team continues to prioritize the safe handling, storage, and delivery of medications, ensuring consistent access for patients who would otherwise face unaffordable costs and critical treatment delays.
A Story of Courage: Hanna’s Fight for Life
We are honored to share the story of Hanna, a mother of two from a small Ukrainian village whose life was turned upside down by the war.
“I worked at a kindergarten,” Hanna says. “But after it closed, we were left with almost no income. Then came the diagnosis – stage 3B breast cancer – and everything became even harder.”
With a disabled husband and two young children, Hanna was the foundation of her household. Her illness struck the family at its core.
“It broke us a little,” she reflects. “But we’re holding on. I hope that treatment will bring us back to a normal life.”
Hanna first heard about Mission Kharkiv from her oncologist. That referral changed everything. Thanks to our support, she was able to receive trastuzumab, a critical and expensive medication, completely free of charge.
“If it weren’t for your help, I wouldn’t be able to continue treatment,” she says. “These medications are incredibly expensive and hard to find. You gave us hope.”
What stood out to Hanna most was not just the treatment, but the people.
“Everyone on your team is kind and professional,” she shares. “They always call to check in, always support. It means so much to know you’re not alone in this fight.”
Hanna’s journey is one of thousands. Through her voice, we hear the quiet strength of so many families confronting cancer under extraordinary circumstances.
Thanks to your generosity, Mission Kharkiv continues to offer real help – and real hope. Together, we are ensuring that cancer is not a death sentence – even in wartime.
Thank you for standing with us. Your support is saving lives.
