For cancer patients, treatment cannot always wait for better circumstances. Despite the ongoing war and continued pressure on Ukraine’s healthcare system, Mission Kharkiv worked throughout August to help patients and medical facilities access essential oncology medicines.
As part of the Ukraine Cancer Relief program, 1,600 units of oncology medicines were distributed during the month.
312 units were provided to healthcare institutions, helping them maintain the availability of medicines for patients receiving treatment. Another 1,288 units were delivered directly to individual patients who needed support in accessing their prescribed medications.
In total, the team completed 329 medicine distributions, reaching 329 patients - 214 women and 115 men.
The largest number of distributions took place in Kharkiv, with 184, followed by Lviv with 100 and Dnipro with 44. An additional distribution was arranged through Nova Poshta and other delivery channels.
Behind these numbers are people continuing treatment while living with the uncertainty and disruption caused by the war. Access to essential medicines can determine whether a patient is able to follow their treatment plan without interruption, while support to healthcare facilities helps doctors continue caring for those who depend on them.
Every month, our work is made possible by the support of donors who believe that cancer treatment should remain accessible even during war. We are grateful to everyone supporting Ukraine Cancer Relief through GlobalGiving. Your contributions help us keep medicines moving to where they are needed and give patients an opportunity to continue their treatment with greater security and dignity.
