Zainab Fatima is a five year old girl that hails from the city of Rawalakot in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Like every other girl her age, she has her dolls, is always ready to play, loves to roam around and also aspires to go to school. But, there's one obstacle in her life that differentiates her experience from that of other children - she cannot hear. Zainab was born with a hearing disability. Her father, like any father would, has been roaming around with her girl for 5 years now.
By the time he reached the right institutions or got aware of government grants, he got to know that Zainab is not preferred anymore, she isn't the ideal candidate. Cochlear transplants are more successful if these transplants are carried out at age 5 or under. Since, she has turned 5, her chances of success have diminished and are diminishing by the passage of every day. But, her doctors are hopeful she will recover and respond to the treatment.
Without this transplant, she would never be able to hear and she has already reached the age threshold for the transplant, i.e. if the transplant is delayed any further, she might have life-long hearing and speech disabilities. Her father cannot afford the treatment; he lost his US$ 126/month job during the pandemic, but will certainly contribute to the costs. But, the costs are mammoth, mammoth for him. A massive 15,000 dollars!
