Happy New Year!

By Rose Bugusu | Director

On behalf of Tumaini family I would like to thank you all for your generosity throughout the year 2022.  It was the year of healing for everyone everywhere and it was a difficult year for so many people but we are so grateful for your prayers and support despite the constrains that you were going through after the Covid 19.  You were going through a lot of hardships but you set that aside and remembered to help an orphan, a poor girl and vulnerable girl to stay in school. It is hard for us to put into words how much we appreciate you all but we believe there is a lot of emotions, gratitude and appreciation wrapped in this one word, “Thanks”

We had a wonderful time with the girls in day secondary school that are in the villages, we couldn’t imagine how happy they were when they saw what was in the package.  We removed one item after another and we were amazed when we showed them the two underwear that come along with the sanitary pads, ‘the girls clapped and rose from their chairs!” We asked the teachers why they were so happy before seeing the washable pads,, the teachers told us that, they had a problem with the girls because most of them have only one underwear and using the pads was a problem. They clapped more when they saw the underwear included in the kit than the pads.

We were able to visit three schools and gave out 600 kits to 600 girls.  The kits were given to the girls who had just joined high school and were in form one, our high school runs from form one upto form four. We didn’t have enough kits to give to all the students and this is why we selected just three schools out of 25 Day secondary schools that are in the villages.

We are thankful for the prayers, financial support and gifts that we receive from you all, that help us reach out to the vulnerable in our communities, sharing the love of God both in word and deed. This far, sincerely speaking we couldn’t do it without you! You have made it happen and the girls are safe for the next three years of school. Kindly share this good work that you are doing with family, friends and groups, let’s make it happen again in a bigger way.  A bigger group will enable us reach out to more orphaned and needy girls in the unreachable villages.

Sometimes it takes only one act of kindness and caring to change a person’s life.” Mother Teresa.

That is exactly what you have done, once again, Thank you!

Once again thank you and have a prosperous, blessed happy 2023!
