"Laughter is the best medicine", particularly in hospital wards. Our Jabulani therapeutic clowns aim to relieve the stress and anxiety that children suffering from life threatening illnesses in hospital face. Through using arts-based activities, which include comedy, juggling, magic, mime & story-telling, our therapeutic clowns help restore and improve the mental, physical and emotional well-being of each life-threatened child in hospital.
There is currently one government employed doctor for every 2,457 people not covered by medical aid. In private care, one medical aid-registered doctor sees between 429 and 571 people.Given the strain on the South African healthcare system, life-threatened children in hospital are left feeling anxious, depressed and hopeless. Our Jabulani Kingdom therapeutic clowns ensure that more than 40,000 children in hospital receive the physical and emotional healing to support their treatment.

Through this project we will ensure that approximately 40,000 children suffering from a life-threatening illness will be positively impacted in hospitals across South Africa. Additionally, life-threatened children in hospital will feel emotionally and physically uplifted through each session with our therapeutic clowns.
