The population in Arena Blanca (Honduras) is about 850 people, of which 406 are men and 445 women with almost 10% of illiteracy. The project "Comunidad Socioeducativa Guarataro" has as a main goal the improvement of the quality of life of more than 200 children and their families through a comprehensive perspective with education as the main pillar. The project also contemplates to implementate healthcare, food and ecology modules.
The population of Arena Blanca has a high rate of illiteracy and they need a place where they can get education in the first years, scholarships in the following ones, and food support. They also need accompaniment in healthcare to assist them with their malnutrition problems and illnesses caused by the place where they live.
Fundacion Ninos de Guarataro - Mensajeros de la Paz has a Montessori childrens Center and a scholarship program that assist 200 children in Aldea Arena Blanca. Also, we provide them with healthcare accompaniment and food support in order to create good food habits and avoid healthcare problems and illness.
200 kids will have access to initial education and, at least, 20% of them will be able to get scholarships to keep studying. All of them will improve their nutrition through the food reinforcement received and their health status by receiving monitoring and medical accompaniment.
