This project will feed 1000 people in the slums and streets of 3 regions in the state of Goa, every day. Lunch is provided for the slum dwellers, poor and disabled on the streets. Our efforts are to eradicate malnutrition and hunger of the children and people in our proximity. People in tent facilities are surviving without the basic necessities and are prone to the dangers of starvation, malnutrition and nutritional diseases. Our goal is to provide a nutritious meal, one time a day.
Tent facilities are increasing in the state because of the migrants. Their families are living in dire poverty because of the lack of employment opportunities & menial wages. Hundreds of migrants' families are starving and surviving with rice pellets alone, raising malnourished children & disease prone household. Nutrition is a luxury for migrants because they eat to survive & subside their hunger. Their children suffer from nutritional deficiencies and hunger.
Our project #meals on wheels# ensures one nutritious meal a day for a thousand people. Children will no longer have to wait on someone else's mercy to fill their stomachs. There will be a drop in the number of people, who stay hungry for days and as a result, become easy prey to diseases. Along with food, our field workers also show genuine concern about the whereabouts of the people, who otherwise don't have anyone to call as their own, filling their hearts with joy.
Hunger pangs of a thousand people will be subsided with this effort. Children at the verge of malnutrition and diseases will be moved to the safe zone, securing their lives from greater health risks. Children can have an active and healthy life and also, physically disabled, elderly and mentally disabled people can live without starvation and the agony of getting rejected by people while begging.
