Dear friends,
Thank you for standing with children undergoing treatment in wartime Ukraine.
Meet Maksym, the brave 11-year-old boy in the picture. On July 8, he was one of 600 children at Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital when a Russian missile struck the facility.
Maksym comes from a small village near Kyiv, where he loves helping out on the family farm. Ducks, geese, chickens, and even a little black piglet depend on his care. He doesn't just feed them; he takes joy in watching the birds nest and hatch their offspring.
One day, Maksym suddenly fell ill and was rushed to the hospital with suspected food poisoning. But after a thorough examination, doctors found a tumor. He was quickly transferred to Okhmatdyt, where he underwent his first surgery.
Just as he was preparing for the next operation, the Russian missile hit the hospital. Amid the chaos, Maksym was urgently evacuated to the Institute of Neurosurgery, along with other patients.
Through it all, Maksym’s grandmother has been by his side, describing him as incredibly patient and strong. Maksym understands that these treatments are crucial for his recovery, so he can return home to his eagerly waiting family—his mother, father, and seven siblings.
Maksym misses the family farm dearly. The promise of his parents buying more ducklings and goslings when he recovers brings him comfort and hope. When he grows up, Maksym dreams of starting his own farm. We believe that with the necessary support, he will fulfill that dream.
Your generous contributions make it possible to provide Maksym and children like him with the therapies, medicines, and care they need. Thank you for making a difference in their lives!
