Women Light the World is helping women in Nepal to become leaders in sustainable energy and in their communities. Our unique model trains women -- selected by their own villages -- to become solar engineers, installing and maintaining solar panels back home. Our vision is to expand educational opportunities for women; promote economic self-sufficiency; provide safe, clean energy; and build sustainable futures for generations to come -- one woman... one home... one village at a time.
In remote, mountainous regions of Nepal, many communities live without electricity. This not only limits their daily lives and access to information and education, but also exposes families to fire and health hazards that come from using dangerous and toxic alternative power sources.
Women Light the World and our key training partner, Barefoot College in Rajasthan, India, are training semiliterate and illiterate women from remote rural areas of Nepal to become Solar Engineers. Our "Solar Mamas" return to their villages to install and maintain home lighting systems. Your support will help us provide transportation, training, equipment, and implementation support for 28 villages in Nepal over the next 3 years.
With your support, we can accomplish 4 critical goals: (1) Give women access to education and financial independence. (2) Contribute to global adoption of sustainable energy. (3) Facilitate economic independence in developing regions. (4) Foster progress and global inclusion for future generations by ensuring safe, reliable access to light, electricity, and the internet. Your generous donation will help to build a safer, cleaner, more equal world for all. Thank you!!
