We are coming to the end of the school year at the two schools, Mzamomhle Primary and St Mary’s Primary, supported by the Help more South African children achieve in Maths project. Both these schools have shown full commitment to this project. The schools have completed 82% of their online Maths exercises as well as all of their assessments for the year. Roughly 150 different exercises were completed in 2016.

We asked a couple of teachers what they thought the biggest impact of this project on their learners were. The teachers responded by saying that this project has had a positive impact on their learners’ confidence in their Maths abilities as well as their interest in Maths.

“The fact that the learners could do their work with more confidence and pride. This sense of accomplishment and perseverance is transferred to their other learning areas where it has a positive impact. Many leaners who didn’t really like Maths in the beginning can now proudly say I love Maths.” – Grade 5 teacher, St Mary’s Primary

“Their confidence in their ability to do Maths has shot through the roof.” – Grade 6 teacher, Mzamomhle Primary

Teachers also said that learners are taking greater ownership, they are excited about their work and they are eager to learn.

“They are eager and enthusiastic and they are definitely trying their best to get to answers. They enjoy seeing problems in a different way and are able to problem solve.”

“The learners could do their own work and see the results and the pace they would work at and feel proud about themselves for all the correct answers. It boosts their confidence level.” – Grade 5 Teacher, Mzamomhle Primary

Thank you for your donations, it is truly making a difference in every single one of the 1, 341 learners’ lives. Your donations are stepping stones to helping them achieve their dreams.
