The new school year is well underway at the two schools supported by the Project "Help more South African children achieve in Maths.” In 2017 the project will support the teachers and learners of two schools Mzamomhle Primary and Jamaica Way Primary. This means that in total 1,385 learners will have the opportunity to receive a quality Maths Education.

One of the schools, Mzamomhle Primary appointed a new young person from the community called Anele, to help the Maths teachers develop confidence in the use of the online Maths programme as well as the technology i.e. computers. Our team arranged a training session for Anele to assist him in supporting the teachers and learners in the Project "Help more South African children achieve in Maths.”

The aim of the training session was to introduce Anele to Ammy, a young computer lab assistant a neighbouring school, to show him what a day in the computer lab should look like. The training included 3 hours of hands-on training in the computer lab where he could see what to do before, during and after a lesson, job trouble shooting and how to provide teacher support regarding the online Maths programme.

“I was impressed with how quickly he got everything. He seemed to be a fast learner and very much willing to learn.” – Ammy, Computer Lab Assistant

For Anele the training was fruitful as it provided him with the knowledge and skills to walk into the classroom to assist the learners and teachers of Mzamomhle Primary with confidence.

“The training really helped me a lot and it also gave me a sense of direction towards my job, because now I have a clear idea of what tasks to prepare for and to monitor the learners and to know where they are at on their online maths tasks.” – Anele, Mzamomhle Primary Lab Assistant

Your donations allow us to help train young individuals like Anele to assist teachers and learners with using the online Maths programme as well the technology with confidence. This ensures that learners will be able to receive quality Maths education in and will allow them to achieve their biggest dreams.
