On January 12, 2010 at approximately 4:35pm, over 315,000 people lost their lives in the Haïti earthquake. Every year on the anniversary of this devastating event, C2C remembers that we went to Petit Goâve because of the earthquake, but we stayed because of the people. Our work with our Partner Communities will continue until our communities are and can maintain self-sufficiency. An earthquake didn’t stop our communities from moving forward 11 years ago and COVID certainly didn’t today. When we last wrote to you, we were in the process of raising funds to purchase gloves, masks and soap to send down to our two Partner Communities to create 1,000 COVID-19 response packets to distribute to families in each of their communities. Along with the COVID-19 response packets, the Peasant Associations of each community requested additional funding to purchase food supplies to distribute to approximately 250 vulnerable families between their communities. Your financial contribution made both happen! Working together, both Peasant Associations distributed the purchased goods in December 2020 to approximately 250 families between their communities! 2020 was a hard and challenging year. However, 2020 truly brought C2C and our Partner Communities together and taught us the true meaning of working with the community to ensure that even during a pandemic, the work continued, simply differently and unexpectedly. For 2021 we expect that the adapting and adjusting we made will result in fresh, new possibilities and partnerships. Thank you again for your support of our Partner Communities. Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy, peaceful and prosperous New Year!
