Bonswa GlobalGiving Community,
Although the past few months have been challenging for Haiti, C2C and our Partner Communities remain hopeful, encouraged, steadfast and focused on the path to creating self-sufficient communities. On August 14th, an earthquake severely impacted Gran Sud (the grand south). Fortunately, our immediate communities in Petit Goave were not severely impacted with physical damage. Our mountainside Peasant Association was able to make multiple trips to bring water and supplies to neighboring communities, as well as, held meetings to discuss how we can help in the rebuilding efforts. We are working on a strategic response plan and look forward to sharing more details in the upcoming months. During this tumultuous time and while COVID is still a daily concern, our need to secure sustainable healthcare and management, remained top priority. We became a finalist in the Haiti Renewal Alliance’s (HRA) Investor Tank Competition, specifically in their health category, with the opportunity to win $150k to construct a permanent, physical home for our C2C Continuous Care Initiative with our Mountainside Partner Community. Although we didn’t win the $150k, we remain vigilant in our pursuit to raise the funds and see the construction of the Health and Wellness Center come to fruition. It is important that not only our mountainside community, but also neighboring communities have access to affordable, preventative and consistent healthcare management to care for people not only during a pandemic, but especially on a day to day basis. We are looking forward to sharing more details with you in the next report!
