Giving Slum Children a Chance to Enjoy Football

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear donors,

We sincerely thank you for your generosity toward the “Help Nigerian Children in Slums Play Football” project. Your support is appreciated, but more contributions are needed before we can officially launch the clubs and training sessions for the children.

In many Nigerian slums, children face unsafe environments with risks of gang activity, drug use, and crime. After-school hours are often unstructured, leaving kids with little to do. Football is a passion for these children, but most cannot afford boots, jerseys, or balls, and there are no organized teams or clubs to join. This gap limits their opportunities for safe play, skill development, and positive social interaction.

This project will provide full football kits and establish six community football clubs in underserved areas. Trained coaches will run regular after-school sessions, friendly matches, and small tournaments. Children will have a safe space to learn teamwork, build friendships, stay active, and develop discipline. The clubs will also serve as mentorship hubs, guiding children away from risky behaviors and giving them constructive activities to occupy their time.

Additional funding is needed to cover the equipment, coaching, and organization of the clubs. Your support can help transform empty streets into playgrounds, giving children a sense of belonging, structure, and hope for the future. Together, we can create safe spaces where talent, joy, and teamwork thrive.

Gratefully,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
