In many parts of Northern Nigeria, thousands of children are out of school and now work as street hawkers to help their families survive. This project will help 1,000 kids return to school by covering school fees, uniforms, books, and meals. We'll also work with local leaders and parents to stop the cycle of child hawking and give these children a real chance at learning and a better future.
In many parts of Northern Nigeria, children are dropping out of school because their families can't afford school fees, uniforms, or books. To survive, many end up hawking on the streets, where they face danger, abuse, and exploitation. Over time, some are drawn into phone snatching, petty theft, or even recruited into robbery and insurgent groups, trapping them in a cycle of crime and hopelessness.
This project will help 1,000 street-hawking children return to school by paying for their fees, uniforms, books, and meals. We'll also work with parents, local leaders, and schools to discourage child hawking and encourage learning. By removing the financial burden and offering real support, more children can leave the streets and focus on building a better life.
Over time, this project can reduce the number of children on the streets and increase school enrollment in Northern Nigeria. As more children return to school and stay there, they'll have better chances of avoiding crime, poverty, and exploitation. It also helps rebuild trust in education among families who have lost hope, creating lasting change for future generations.
