Help older people learn basic IT skills

Hello everyone!

With COVID cases rising again, we are seeing a huge demand on our services. This is especially true for the Getting Started Keep In Touch (KIT) programme which provides remote 1-2-1 tutoring for older people to help improve their digital skills. We had begun to reopen our face-to-face tutoring in November, but very quickly government restrictions came into play and we had to shut them down again. Luckily we are still able to offer the remote tutoring on an ongoing basis. For many older people, Getting Started KIT is a lifeline - a way to keep connected with their friends, family, and communities; a way to access digital resources like applications for public benefits; a way to learn online banking and shopping, both crucial during the pandemic; and also a way to enjoy the gifts of technology in general!

Since COVID first hit, we have trained over 880 older people through this course, with 18,000+ hard-copy how-to guides sent out to learners who want to teach themselves- WOW!
