It has been a busy couple of months for Age Action’s Getting Started team. Classes have been running in Dublin, Kildare, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Louth, Cork, Waterford and Donegal. We have trained 595 older people with the assistance of 227 volunteer tutors. In Dublin we ran a class in a nursing home where we have 14 very enthusiastic residents who too part and many bought a laptop or tablet before the class was over so they could stay connected with the online world. We also partnered with Dundalk and Letterkenny Institute of Technologies where students volunteered to teach older people from the local community. A number of companies also have been running classes including HP in Leixlip and the feedback from both the learners and volunteers have been extremely positive. The next few months looks like being just as busy as we try to keep up with the demand from older people to learn about computer and the internet. A big thank you to all our donors who support our work.
