Namibia is a vast country with limited public transport options. Many schools are situated far into rural areas on sandy or gravel roads. Reaching these schools requires transport, especially for a dance troupe (that have costumes, music equipment, teaching materials and more to take along) our youth facilitators and counsellor. OYO needs new transport in order to safely reach schools. Please help us raise the money needed to buy a car to continue the amazing work that we are doing.
OYO is facing a transport issue. It has four vehicles: A condor, donated in 2002 (over 400,000 km, not roadworthy, still occasionally operates in Windhoek) A Renault Duster from 2015 (over 220,000 km, has reached its limit for work outside Windhoek) Two 14-seaters quantums from 2017 (both over 220,000 km, still operating) We can't currently ensure the safety of our staff or children we transport when on road trips.
A new vehicle will support our work and our ability to reach safely schools and communities. Thanks to the new vehicle, we will be able to continue create awareness on issues such as GBV, teenage pregnancy, human rights. Our counsellor will be able to provide on-the-spot services to children in need. Our facilitators will be able to continue educating students & community members. Our dancer will be able to continue edutaining teenagers. We will be able to reach schools we currently can't access
We aim at reaching over 50,000 young people per year, providing them with the knowledge to make informed decisions for their lives. Most of our projects address GBV, teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS. We empower young people in and out-of-school. Our counsellor attends to over 400 cases per year, providing much needed psycho-social support to teenagers in need. Our ability to reach the youth is our strength.
