As the GlobalGiving Syrian Refugee Matching Campaign continues, we wanted to share a story from our HOPE volunteers in the field that shows how valuable your support of our programs is.
Halile Basehir is an 18-year-old refugee from Afghanistan with cerebral paralysis. One night, he was brought to HOPE volunteers seeking medical care, suffering from a high fever and febrile convulsions. He was taken immediately to the nearest hospital to receive treatment. Following his stay in the hospital, Project HOPE volunteers made regular visits to the tent where Halile and his family were living to assess his condition. They spent timing talking to his mother, who cried, recalling how they had to carry him on their backs during their journey to Macedonia. Halile continues to be cared for by our volunteers, and is taken to the hospital for regular check-ups. While life has not been easy for Halile or his family, Project HOPE has been able to provide them with critically needed medical care and support to help them during these difficult times.
We hope that you will consider making a donation to help support individuals like Halile and his family. Thank you for your generosity!
