Patient Relief Mission (PRM) is a not for profit organization duly registered in Uganda. The organization provides hostel accommodation to rural women undergoing cancer treatment at the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) Mulago, who would otherwise have nowhere to stay in the city. The cost of a patient and caretaker staying in the city through the treatment, the period is prohibitive for poor rural women. Since December 2016, PRM has offered more than 40,000 overnight stays to female Cancer patients
More than 50 percent of women patients with cancer come from as far as 400km to access treatment at Uganda Cancer Institute which is the only cancer treatment center in Uganda. The treatment institute does not provide accommodation in terms of patient wards hence leaving patients with no option but to sleep on the institute verandas and corridors while undergoing treatment.
The project guarantees to provide 28,800 overnight stays to underprivileged women patients with cancer, 3 meals a day, skills training, and psycho-social support. All these services are provided to patients at no cost, we solely rely on kind donations from individuals, companies, and organizations like you.
This project has potential and is impactful in the mainstreaming of needy and underprivileged women patients with cancer. Their basic needs are met and they will get new life through gaining knowledge, psychosocial support, life skills, and affection as in their homes. Their confidence level will increase and equally improve their health conditions. This will psychologically give them hope to continue living. They will inspire philanthropy and show that having cancer is not a death sentence.
