By Melissa Devlin | Manager, Annual Donor Relations & Engagement
Hello,
Thank you for your continued support of Humane Canada, we are pleased to share an update with you on our Tails of Summer fundraising campaign in support of companion animals!
Since our last update to you, our annual Tails of Summer fundraiser took place from August 10th to September 10th with a goal to raise $10,000 for companion animal welfare. We are happy to report that after extending our fundraiser by a few days, we not only met our goal, but surpassed it, with a grand total of $10,440!
This annual fundraiser allows us to not only raise important funds, but it is an opportunity to educate the public on important issues affecting companion animals in our country, including the cruel puppy mill trade, over-population, high surrender rates in shelter, and more.
As the financial crisis continues, more Canadians are in the heartbreaking position of no longer being able to afford food or care for their pets. This is causing a ripple effect on our shelters and animals. As a result, we’re seeing an influx in pet surrenders and abandonment, and shelters across the country are sounding the alarms as they exceed capacity.
The generosity of donations received during this fundraiser will directly support our programs, advocacy efforts and legislative work to create systemic change throughout the country. We will invest in improving animal protections, implementing strong legislation, offering grants through our National Pet Food Bank Program, and supporting our member shelters and associates on the frontlines. The goal is to empower and educate Canadians and future generations.
Our Tails of Summer campaign is a crucial fundraiser we look forward to every year to help us continue our work and we thank you, our donors, for your ongoing concern and support of companion animal welfare.
