As Canadians, we are navigating through new challenging times, and there has never been a more critical time to protect our most vulnerable animals and their welfare across our nation. Today, we find ourselves facing unprecedented challenges that test our nations resolve and we must protect the most vulnerable among us, including our beloved animals.
Humane Canada is committed to tackling the root causes of animal shelter overcrowding and providing essential resources to support animals in need. As the national voice for animal welfare, we promote responsible pet ownership, educate the public on avoiding puppy mills, and encourage adoption or working with ethical breeders when seeking a new companion.
Through initiatives like our National Pet Food Bank program, we ensure that pets have access to food during tough times, and we’re advocating for more pet-inclusive housing to give animals and their families a safe place to live and remain together.
Collaboration is key to our work, and with the help of our partners—more than 70 member SPCA’s, Humane Societies, and Associates—we are finding solutions to the growing challenges facing companion animals. From emergency response programs to more accessible vet care and removing barriers to adoption, we want to keep animals out of shelters and in safe, loving homes. We’ve seen a rise in disease outbreaks like the avian flu, which can harm both people and animals, and we know the unsanitary conditions of puppy mills can increase the risk of diseases spreading.
Humane Canada will continue to address and promote the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. Together with your support, we are working towards a more compassionate future for companion animals and all living beings. We are so grateful for your ongoing commitment to animal welfare.
