Dear Supporter,
As we mark four years since the war in Ukraine began, we want to thank you for standing with the children and families affected by this ongoing crisis.
The impact on children remains severe. Thousands of buildings, including schools, have been damaged or destroyed. Many children continue to study remotely because classrooms are unsafe. For some, air raid sirens and sheltering in basements are still part of daily life.
Behind these realities are families carrying unimaginable loss.
One grandmother supported through our local partners lost her granddaughter when a rocket struck a residential building. After laying her to rest, further devastation followed: flooding caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station affected the cemetery, forcing the family to rebury her and endure renewed grief. Despite these hardships, she continues to care for her surviving granddaughters with remarkable strength.
Thanks to your support, we are able to provide practical help alongside emotional support. Children receive food, medicines, and fuel to stay warm during winter. Even when there is no electricity, they can take part in art and cooking activities, giving them a sense of normality and helping them cope with the cold and fear. Summer camps and family gatherings offer opportunities for children to play, learn, and regain emotional stability, while laptops for remote learning ensure education continues despite damaged schools. We also provide specialised transport for children with disabilities and support orphanages and families relocating to safer areas.
Your generosity helps bring care, learning, and hope into the lives of children who have endured so much. Rebuilding childhoods is just as important as rebuilding homes and schools, and your support is making that possible.
Thank you for continuing to stand with Ukraine’s children.
With sincere gratitude,
ChildAid to Eastern Europe
