Inhabitants of this community plan to rehabilitate their water scheme that has not been performing over the past years. The flow of water has been irregular and unsustainable especially during the dry periods because the size of the water catchment tank is small, pipes used are undersized and the catchment area is usually dry (not protected). This was due to insufficient funds. This project will provide clean and portable water supply to 1000 community members and fight against climate change.
The effects of climate change and climate variability is a major concern for people working and living in this community. Some of these people are women and children who need water for various activities such as those concern with agro pastoral development, infrastructure development and above-all human use for drinking, cooking, washing of dresses etc. The irregular and unsustainable supply of safe and portable water to community members remains a call for concern and requires immediate actions
We will elect and train local water committee members, support them with local tools that can enable them to correct insufficiencies and repair broken pipes as soon as it happens so to prevent leakages and shortages and ensure a consistent flow of water throughout the year. They will also be provided environmental friendly trees necessary for the protection of the catchment area.
The project will provide safe, clean and drinking water to 1000 inhabitants of the community thereby reducing considerably the prevalence of water borne diseases in the community. This will provide their families good health and well-being.
