CPD is a volunteerism-centered organization that has mobilized a pool of volunteers into social change initiatives. Since 2021 socio-political power-shift, Afghans have been suffering extreme financial problems mainly due to significant shortfall in economic activities. It in turn, has badly affected civil society in terms of retaining staff and volunteers. As human asset is hard to compensate once lost, CPD focus is to ensure sustainability of the minimum level of its potential and operations.
Afghans suffer extreme financial problems due to severe shortfall in economic activities and financial restrictions and freezing reserve funds of Afghanistan by the international community, which have directly affected the people and contributed to nation-wide food insecurity and paralyzing public service delivery throughout the country - all leading to deprioritize social change development programs including sustainability of CPD's network of community volunteers active since 2010.
In such a scenario, priority comes to sustainability of the organization, minimum level of operations and retaining human asset (staff and volunteers). Taking all these challenges into account, CPD has decided to overcome such unprecedented situation through distribution of cash, food items and COVID-19 prevention kits. Since 2010, CPD has been delivering community-driven initiatives; many of which have not been financed by donors. Such financially challenging context, nurtured volunteerism culture in the organization and helped form different community volunteer groups including Community Advocacy Groups (CAGs). School Youth Groups (SYGs), sport teams and volunteers assisting in organization's routines. By keeping such a human asset, CPD is able to keep sustain its operations, until the situation is improved.
