On June 26th, 2025, Rongjiang County, located in Guizhou Province, China, was hit by record-breaking downpours that claimed six lives and displaced more than 80,000 residents. Just two days later, on June 28th, another flood struck the region, displacing an additional 40,000 people — bringing the total to nearly half of Rongjiang’s 300,000 population.
Since then, the Chinese government and various organizations have worked tirelessly to restore the area. Most residents have now returned to their homes or have been rehoused in newly built housing, and much of the damage has been repaired.
The I Love Learning Education Centre launched a project on GlobalGiving to raise funds for Rongjiang students under the age of 18 who were unable to attend school and were living in unsafe temporary shelters due to the disaster. The project aimed to provide food vouchers, hygiene kits, shelter, and school supplies to help restore the students’ stability, health, and learning opportunities.
Through your generous support, we were able to appropriate funds to local partner organizations in Rongjiang, and our team also participated directly in distributing essential supplies to affected children.
While life in Rongjiang has now largely returned to normal, the project is still accepting contributions, and any additional funds received will be disbursed to our trusted partners on the ground to continue supporting local students and families in need.
We will deactivate this project in early 2026 once the recovery phase is fully complete.
Thank you all sincerely for your compassion and support.
