On June26, 2025, record downpours hit Rongjiang (pop.300,000), killing six and displacing over 80,000. A second deluge on June28 half-submerged the city and forced another 40,000 to flee, prompting the highest-level flood alert This campaign supports students under 18 whose schooling and housing have been disrupted-those missing classes, unable to attend school, or facing unstable living conditions.
On June26, 2025, Rongjiang (population300,000) was hit by record rainfall, killing six and displacing over 80,000 people. Two days later, more heavy rain dropped floodwaters up to two meters above danger level, half-submerging the city and forcing another 40,000 residents to evacuate. Students under 18 are now unable to attend school, missing classes, and living in unsafe or temporary housing-causing disruption to education, stability, and emotional wellbeing.
Food vouchers, hygiene kits, shelter and school supplies will help restore students' stability, health, and learning opportunities. Vouchers ensure dignity and support local markets; hygiene kits reduce illness and absenteeism; shelter kits create safe living spaces; and educational materials enable classrooms to resume-together reversing flood-related disruption and rebuilding students' routines and resilience.
By restoring safe schools and secure housing, this project enables students to return to learning-reducing absenteeism, preventing long-term academic decline, and supporting emotional recovery after trauma. Research confirms that schools act as anchors after disasters, helping heal, build resilience, and improve mental well-being. Strengthened education systems also foster community preparedness, healthier future outcomes, and increased disaster resilience.
