Help Rural Children of Cambodia Fulfill Potential

Vana Raksmey, a 14-year-old boy, is the youngest boy in the family who lives with 2 older brothers and one older sister. Their house is a bit small and is about 3 km away from the school. He always goes to school by bike. Vana has joined the team since June 2017.

“When TFCF social worker told me that I would have the opportunity to join TFCF football team, I was so happy and surprised about it. I decided to join this program because I thought I have the talent and ability on playing football. I has been good at football since I was 8 years old. Furthermore, I want to be stronger and feel better and more confident physically. I also want to make more friends through this program. The most important is that I want to go to school and do my best on study and not drop out to work.

I am the role of defender on a football team, and I always follow our coach and attend all trainings every week. I’ve learned a lot from him including the skill and technique, such as ball control on the field. I always dream to be a world class professional soccer player who can represent my community, school, province and also my country in the world game. I believe that nothing is impossible, and we can do it. My parents always remind me that I should study hard and do my homework better and don’t make donors and sponsors disappointed. Thank you for the shoes, new balls and everything given to our team. Thank you very much.”

Friendly Match

Finally our football team finished all matches in Oddor Meanchey Province last year. All children have done a great job and got a good result. It is very important for our children to play a friendly match which all children could apply their skills and realize their potential in a game. We will consider to organize more matches and encourage members to participate in friendly matches with other students. We hope to increase children’s confidence level and football skills.

Sarith Veth, a 14-year-old boy, grows up as the oldest with a younger brother and a younger sister. They live in a small house which is 6 km away from his school. He always walks to school and it takes more than one hour to arrive. Veth has joined the team since June 2017.

“I love football and I am good at playing football. I am honored to be part of a team, and I want to do my best to contribute to our team. It’s also a good opportunity to keep me at school without dropping me out because I have to spend more than two hours to school and sometimes I have no motivation to attend the classes. My parents let me join the team and encourage me to study well, so I have to finish all my homework after school every day.

After joining TFCF football team, I’ve learned a lot and made a good progress including my study and football skills. My coach taught me many important skills, such as how to pass a soccer ball with the inside of my foot or perform a tip-toe in the right direction. In addition to learning from my coach, I also keep searching and learning more skill sets through internet. I am an attacker in our team and I also assist to prepare materials for the training. My coach always told me that I’m one of good attackers in my team. Therefore, I hope to be a famous football player and represent for my school and country. I want to make myself and family proud and I believe that I can make it. Thank you for offering me the opportunity to join TFCF football team and I am going to make my dream come true someday.”

Football Tournament Match

Good News! TFCF Cambodia football team has been registered in the tournament-match finally and is going to compete with other stronger teams in Oddor Meanchey Province by the end of this year. It’s a great chance for our members to demonstrate their strength in Provincial Level tournaments. We are very excited and looking forward to the tournament-match and all members are going to begin the day-by-day training soon.

Even facing the difficulties of financial situation in the society, we still have your donation and support. Thank you for being with us and helping more needy children in Cambodia.
