Let's send 105 children in care and 21 care workers to the adventures of Summer Camp! NPO Mirai no Mori creates life-changing outdoor programs for abused, neglected, and orphaned children in Japan, supporting their growth into happy and successful young adults. Through our Summer Camp, we hope to give children a chance to challenge themselves to gain confidence, to use English to broaden their perspectives, and to build life-long relationships with their peers and caring international staff.
Sometimes called orphanages in English, Children's homes house children from 1 to 18 years old who cannot be supported by their parents. The children receive a safe place to live, along with support to live independent lives. Children's homes do an admirable job of providing a safe place to grow, but most children still struggle with a host of unmet needs. It adds up to a terrible loss of human potential, and real social and economic costs for Japan.
Each activity in the Camp is designed to provide children with experiences, skills, and perspectives that can change their lives for the better, now and for years to come with three core elements: Outdoors, English, and Ongoing Mentoring. An international staff will encourage them to speak as much English as possible throughout the camp in a fun way.
Our programs are designed to work together to provide life-changing benefits for marginalized youth. Campers become leaders, empowered to shift from a cycle of dysfunction and despair to a cycle of self-actualization and inspiration.
