Social farm team makes war response!

By Hanna Trepaliuk | Project Leader

Our farm in Liebenthal has become a stronghold last month: here we produce drinking water, which we supply to soldiers and receive refugees, people from combat points who refuse to go abroad.

The youth educational program for rural youth here has been temporarily suspended for safety reasons. All employees are planting greenery, vegetables, fruits, trees and flowers at Liebenthal social farm now. Farm produce is very important right now as food problems will increase in Ukraine.

Mentors remotely help graduates of the business training program start their micro-business projects and planting at their sites. We provide psychological assistance for our graduates remotely, we inform their families about the possibilities to leave Ukraine.

Several families have escaped from the occupied Kherson region. These are real farmers for whom cultivating the land is as natural and necessary as breathing. They don`t want to leave Ukraine, they can`t live in cramped apartments, they want to cultivate the land, sow and take care of the future harvest.

People came to us confused and broken, not knowing what to do next. When we invited them to stay in Libenthal, where they could lead their usual way of life and engage in subsistence farming, they almost burst into tears of joy.

Thus, Libenthal became a temporary home for Ukrainian refugees. Here, despite the war, they will plant flowers and vegetables, pick fruits and berries. Because the war will surely (we believe it) end soon and we will need to build a new life.

Thank you sincerely, our friends, from the hundreds of Ukrainians we can help every day!
