Dear Friends!
Let me remind you what this project is and why it is important.
The Libenthal project is an innovative farm-based social enterprise located in Libenthal village near Odessa.
At the heart of the project mission is the promotion of psychological and social well-being for children and youth through diverse educational and therapeutic programs. The project facilitates social adaptation and rehabilitation by combining agrotherapy, hands-on farming skills training, and psychosocial support activities.
Spanning one hectare, the farm includes several greenhouses, an open vegetable garden, a social hostel accommodating 18 teenagers, and a children’s day center that offers tailored educational and psychological support programs. A displaced family resides on-site and actively participates in managing and maintaining the farm, enriching its community-centered approach.
The farm primarily grows vegetables, herbs, and flowers, serving dual purposes: providing healthy nutrition and resources for the Way Home Foundation and offering practical farming education. Through involvement in farm activities, children gain physical exercise, learn responsibility, independence, and entrepreneurial skills—all within a supportive and structured environment.
Agrotherapy fosters psychological and emotional healing as children care for plants, cultivating patience, attentiveness, and responsibility. Participation on the farm boosts self-confidence and equips children with essential life skills.
The farm encourages outdoor activities, including sports, games, and competitions, to enhance physical health, teamwork, and overall well-being. Active engagement in nature forms the foundation of a healthy and joyful childhood experience.
Given the challenging circumstances faced by many of these children, the role of a child psychologist is integral to the project. This support helps children overcome past trauma, aiding their psychological recovery, social adaptation, and holistic well-being.
The Libenthal project offers vulnerable children a safe space to heal, grow, and develop, empowering them to face the future with confidence and resilience.
The project aspires to expand its reach, enabling more children and young people to benefit from its programs. It aims to strengthen partnerships with educational and social institutions while developing sustainable social enterprise models. These efforts ensure the farm’s continued ability to address the needs of vulnerable populations effectively.
