Awareness Program at our Evening School
Awareness Program at our Evening School

Summary

This program aims to educate and empower the children in slums and rural areas of Puducherry by offering evening remedial classes, teaching English, counseling services, awareness and community-sensitizing programs.

Challenge

The Children born into poverty are subjected to issues and challenges such as limited educational resources, poor infrastructure and bad role model with in the family. The issues of unemployment, illiteracy and alcoholism within the family, single parenthood, neglect and abandonment, force the children to become laborers and affected by a variety of societal challenges that prevents them from achieving their goals. The children acquire all bad habits as there is no control by the parents. They can’t be in the main stream and left behind.

Solution

The Evening school run by Prime Trust educates through remedial classes and experiential learning. Prime Trust is keen to provide them awareness programs related to physical, psychological and social issues faced by children. Counseling services are offered them on a regular basis. The children are made to aware their rights and how to access it, how to protect the environment.

Long-Term Impact

The objective of this program is to make the disadvantaged acquire the skills needed and put them into the main stream. The Evening School helps the children to receive holistic development. Our Evening School helps to develop strong personal identity paired with coping and life skills.

Updates

With the beginning of the academic year, Prime Trust started the Evening School and we have 25 children. We have a regular teacher along with our international volunteers. We are making arrangements to provide them school supplies.  New places are being arranged for setting up new schools.
