Prime Trust conducts surveys on the micro-credit outcomes in the women Self Help Groups

Prime Trust with the support of the interns from Jagdish Sheth School of Management (JAGSOM) conducted a survey to assess the outcomes of microcredit given to women self-help groups. The survey was done from June 27, 2023, to June 30, 2023, as part of their internship program. The primary objective of the survey was to evaluate the impact of microcredit on the economic empowerment and socio-economic well-being of women belonging to Self-Help Groups. The survey team aimed to assess various aspects such as changes in income and employment, and access to financial services. The microcredit provided to the self-help groups has had a positive economic impact. A significant percentage of respondents reported an increase in their income levels since accessing microcredit, leading to improved living conditions. The microcredit received by the self-help groups has facilitated the creation of new employment opportunities. The survey indicated that microcredit has played a significant role in empowering women within self-help groups.

While the outcomes of microcredit were generally positive, the survey also highlighted some challenges faced by the self-help groups. Common challenges included limited financial literacy, high-interest rates, and difficulties in accessing markets for their products. These challenges require attention and targeted interventions to further enhance the benefits of microcredit.
