Summary
To empower 100 women by motivating those to form Self Help Groups and providing micro-credit to start their own business and to support those who have already own a business. When the women are financially strong, they get equal respect in the family.
Challenges
In the Indian society, women are not given an equal opportunity on par with men and hence, they do not participate in decision making process at their homes. The women are subjected to all forms of violence and they live without knowing that they are being exploited. The girl children do not have an opportunity to go to school and they are stopped getting equal education as of boys and thereby making the women dependent on men.
Solution
Prime Trust took an initiative to bring changes along with other non-profit organizations by forming women groups both urban and rural area. The women get vocational training skills and provide financial assistance to start their own business and thereby making them more independent.
Long-Term Impact
With the continued support of Prime Trust, women will become self-reliant and they will be equally respected in their homes. The income which they generate is used to support the family along with her spouse and for the education of their children. Through the Self Help Groups, the women get confidence and support from other members of the group.
