Getting Cozy

By Rebecca | Board member

library with new curtains and book shelves!
library with new curtains and book shelves!

Since the last report we have had the curtains for all the upstairs windows made up AND we now have library bookshelves!  Now to start getting books on the shelves!  It's starting to look so cozy and inviting!

Also, since the last report, we have made some big changes on campus.  We are having growing pains, which is a good problem, and needed to shuffle some of the staff around before the next school year began.  After much discussion, our cook and her kids are moving into the directors house and the directors are moving into the Education Center!  We have always wanted to hold things loosely and be flexible.  We can see the benefit of having the local directors and their three girls move into the upstairs guest quarters of the Ed. Center.  This will actually be a blessing as they can now keep a close eye on the facility 24/7 and make sure the place is clean and well cared for at all times.  But, this also means we are needing to do some improvements to facilitate the family.  The guest quarters is just a main living room, bedroom and bathroom.  We are now needing to add two walls and a door so the girls have their own space to sleep.  We are also needing to add some kitchen space.  We will do this on the deck just off the main room of the guest quarters.  The kitchen will be needing an awning for sun/rain protection and all the kitchen amenities.  We are calculating this will take close to $7,000 with materials and labor.

As this is yet another chunk of funds needed we are thrilled that we have the space for them and we don't have to build a whole new place for them, which would cost quite a bit more.  We will go ahead and start with the walls for the room so everyone can have their privacy and then raise more for the rest of the needs.  What we have in the account now is going to go toward the walls, screens for windows and then possibly some landscape as rainy season has begun and there is mud everywhere.

Thank you for following us on this journey and for the part you have had!  So many lives are being changed for the better because of you all!
