Vanessa made the courageous decision to flee England with her child, Sage, when safety in their home abroad could no longer be guaranteed.
Her American military abusive spouse refused to sign an early return of dependents so Vanessa could return home with Sage.
Leaving meant stepping into uncertainty, even legal consequences — but staying meant too much risk. With urgency and care, Pathways supported crisis safety planning, coordinated international logistics, and helped secure their safe return to the United States.
We connected Vanessa to an attorney who gave her legal guidance on how to navigate any legal action her abusive husband took against her for taking Sage back home.
Today, Vanessa and Sage are rebuilding their lives in an environment where protection replaces fear and stability replaces chaos. Sage is able to play, learn, and is no longer afraid. Because of your generosity, this mother and child were able to escape danger together and begin a new chapter rooted in safety, hope, and healing.
Thank you for believing in our mission!
