Dear Supporter,
We are pleased to share an important update on the Psychosocial Support (PSS) Training Program implemented by FJO, which has provided vital support to more than 140 women across Darayya in Rural Damascus from June through October 2025.
These women—many of them widows, heads of households, or living with the uncertainty of missing spouses—have faced years of conflict, displacement, and emotional strain. Through community-based outreach, we identified those most in need and invited them into a safe, supportive learning environment where healing could begin.
The program offered comprehensive, trauma-informed PSS training, helping participants understand how crises impact their emotional and psychological well-being. Through interactive group sessions, role-play, and guided discussions, women explored topics such as:
The psychological impact of crisis on individuals and families
Stress, burnout, and emotional fatigue
Self-care strategies across physical, emotional, spiritual, and social dimensions
Techniques for managing stress and practicing mindfulness
Building emotional resilience and effective coping mechanisms
Creating peer support networks and community-based support systems
Each of the seven participant groups attended two in-depth sessions of 3 to 3.5 hours, and more than 20 women also received individualized counseling to address personal and sensitive challenges.
The results have been deeply encouraging. Women reported improved emotional well-being, strengthened support networks, and a renewed sense of confidence in their ability to cope with life’s pressures. Many expressed that, for the first time in years, they felt heard, supported, and empowered.
Your support has made this healing possible. Thank you for standing with women who continue to show extraordinary strength in the face of adversity.
With gratitude,
