Hope Amidst the Rubble

By Yasmina | Project Leader

Dear Supporter,

Because of your generosity, hope is rising where devastation once stood.

Samira’s home in Eastern Ghouta, Damascus, was reduced to rubble after an aerial bombardment that took the life of her husband and left two of her children with life-altering injuries — one paralyzed, the other having lost a limb. Overnight, Samira became a widow and the sole caregiver to four children, struggling to survive in the only remaining part of a severely damaged house. Broken walls, a leaking roof, extreme summer heat, and harsh winter cold became part of their daily reality.

With nowhere else to turn, Samira reached out for help. Responding swiftly, our local partners began the difficult task of rehabilitating the damaged home — a process that required extensive effort, resources, and commitment. When the project reached its final stages and faced a shortage of labor, Samira herself stepped forward. With quiet determination, she asked only for paint and materials, then took it upon herself to repaint the walls and complete the remaining repairs.

Today, that fragile shelter has become a livable home once again.

Your support helped restore more than walls and ceilings — it restored dignity, safety, and hope. For Samira’s injured children, the repaired home eased their physical and emotional suffering and offered them a sense of stability after years of loss.

This is the power of your generosity: transforming rubble into refuge, despair into resilience, and hardship into a new beginning.

Thank you for standing with families like Samira’s and for making hope possible where it is needed most.
