From Loss to Livelihood: Fatima & Hanaa Turn Resilience into Opportunity

By Yasmina | Project Leader

Dear Supporters,

Because of your generosity, stories of strength and renewal continue to unfold.

In a small community, two widowed mothers — Fatima and Hanaa — faced the heavy responsibility of raising their children alone after losing their husbands. The future felt uncertain, but with determination and the opportunity your support helped provide, they chose not to give up.

After completing a mushroom cultivation training program, both women began experimenting with their first harvests. Their products were displayed at a local exhibition, where community members responded with enthusiasm and encouragement. That moment became the turning point.

Rather than continuing separately, Fatima and Hanaa decided to build something together.

They combined their efforts and transformed the spacious basement of Hanaa’s home into a small mushroom production space. By sharing costs, dividing responsibilities, and supporting one another, they were able to increase production and improve quality. Their mushrooms are now sold fresh, dried, and preserved, creating a growing source of income for their families.

What began as a training opportunity has now become a sustainable livelihood.

Today, Fatima and Hanaa are not only supporting their children — they are rebuilding confidence, independence, and hope for the future. Their partnership is a powerful reminder that with the right opportunity, determination can turn hardship into progress.

This transformation happened because of you.

Your support is not only providing assistance — it is creating pathways for families to stand on their own feet again.

Thank you for believing in these women, and for continuing to stand with communities working toward a more stable and hopeful future.

With gratitude,
