Dear Valued Donor,
Thanks to your support, 19 women in Daraya participated in a second legal awareness session focused on one of the most painful realities faced by families of the disappeared:
What happens when a loved one is neither confirmed alive nor legally declared dead?
For many families, this uncertainty affects far more than grief. It can leave inheritance, civil documentation, family rights, and the legal status of children unresolved for years.
During the session, women learned what “missing” means under Syrian law, how disappearance can affect inheritance, what the four-year legal threshold may mean in wartime circumstances, and how they can better protect their children’s civil status while answers are still missing.
This knowledge cannot erase the pain of uncertainty.
But it can help families protect their rights, make informed decisions, and face a complicated legal reality with greater confidence.
A final survey was also collected to understand participants’ needs and help improve future support.
Your generosity made this important session possible.
Thank you for standing with women and families who have already endured so much—and for helping ensure that uncertainty does not leave them without knowledge, protection, or a voice.
With sincere gratitude,
Your support is helping families protect what can still be protected, even while they continue waiting for answers.
