Spay & Neuter street dogs of Huanchaco, Peru

Hello everyone,

Planning for the 2013 clinic is in full swing.  We had a great conference call last weekend with our head vet (Brenda), our awesome vet tech (Natalie), and one of our star volunteers (Kim). 

Here are some of the details:

1. We are currently sending funds ahead to our main contacts in both Huanchaco (Javier) and Trujillo (Bertha) in order to purchase Doxycycline and other necessary pre-treatment medications. This year we are really focusing on getting our patients as healthy as possible prior to surgery. We are working with folks on the ground to establish a list of people who are seeking our services and encouraging owners to give their dogs antibiotics two weeks before the operation. 
2. We are finalizing plans for the location of the clinic. Currently it is scheduled to take place in a local vets office, but we are looking for a larger space to better accommodate the team and animals. 
3. We're compiling the final team roster. Our plan is to have 3 vets, 2-4 vet techs, and a handful of volunteers. 
4. Finally, we are getting all the other details wrapped-up such as flights, hostel rooms, transportation within country, and translators as need. 

Our clinic will run July 22 - July 26, but we will have people on the ground a few days prior & after to make sure everything is a success. 

We understand that GlobalGiving will be doing a matching gift campaign in June so please keep an eye out for our email as this will be our big fundraising opportunity for the year. Please consider forwarding it to a friend when the time arrives.
