When we started our Rescue Centre (Rescue Junction) we quickly became involved in rescuing child labourers from all over India. Over the years we have rescued more than two thousand child labourers sometimes a hundred at a time or just one child. We have reunited them with families, got them back in mainstream education, and supported them with care and protection restoring their childhoods which were stolen from them. We need your help to reach out and help more children in slavery.
Bihar is a hotspot the very epicentre of child labour in India because it is still a very poor state. There is still widespread illiteracy. Criminals exploit the situation and trick parents in signing documents saying they are consent forms when in reality they are documents of sale, and their child is sold into child labour. Parents are often then threatened and warned not to bring cases and in some cases never see their child again for years. Some can be as young as 10 years old.
Whilst we have rescued and cared for children over the years we have done far more than that. Our dedicated ACSU (Anti Child Slavery Unit) has amongst other things.. Prosecuted traffickers and brought them to Justice , Identified exploitive factory owners and brought them to Justice , organised community awareness and educational programmes with the children's involvement worked with law enforcement, the railway authorities, station porters, and the general public to help prevent child labour.
Rescue Junction is at the very heart of child protection in the district and the child welfare court takes place at the centre. Our working partnerships with law enforcement , and the local and state government means we are uniquely placed to maximise our impact in helping to eradicate child labour in the district which has a population of several million people. We need your support for this vitally important work so we can continue to help trafficked children in the communities we serve.
