How Firefighters Keep Working For a Common Cause

Dear Mensajeros’ Friends,

In Argentina, fire still threatens the lives of hundreds of argentinian families. New Year’s Eve started with 6 big wildfires spread in 5 different provinces, where volunteer firemen and local communities had to act immediately against them. On 28th December 2021, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and COPEMA declared a state of emergency for all fires happening throughout the country.

In this context, the duty of Fundación Bomberos de Argentina (Firefighters of Argentina Foundation) becomes critically important. The institution keeps working on its campaign “Puentes de la Prevención” (Bridges of Prevention) that aims to raise awareness and promote good practices to prevent fires. It also has the mission of generating resources to support firefighters during wildfires. This is a significant contribution to help all affected people and reduce the risks of new conflagrations.

However, this is not the only campaign ongoing. The foundation is also working on “Todos llevamos un héroe en la sangre” (We All Have a Hero in Our Blood), which seeks to organize blood drives in fires stations around Argentina to promote voluntarily and regularly donation.

Because blood is an essential element for life, it is extremely important. A huge issue in Argentina is that just 45% of blood donations come from volunteers, while the majority are practiced for restocking. Training events and open calls have been made along the country, but the foundation does not rest: it keeps planning new strategies to promote them and reach more people. All these actions and initiatives are supported by Mensajeros de la Paz Argentina because we think that together we do more.

Thank you all for making this possible.
