Every Wednesday at Whisper’s Children’s Hospital, we run a free sickle cell clinic, serving up to 500 patients with free testing, counselling, and preventive medicine. Many of these are children living with sickle cell disease, and some arrive severely anaemic—desperately needing urgent blood transfusions to survive.
Thanks to your incredible support, we are able to respond swiftly and save lives of these innocent children.
So far, your generosity has helped us carry out over 1,500 life-saving blood transfusions in the past three months—saving the lives of both critically ill children and mothers in labour. Just last week, a mother who had given birth was rushed to our hospital dangerously anaemic. Because of your support, we had blood available and were able to quickly transfuse her—saving her life.
Whispers supports the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services every week, mobilizing the community and running regular blood donation drives. Most of our blood donors are students—but with school holidays approaching, donations are expected to decline. This is a critical time for us.
Many willing donors from the general public need a little support—like transport, refreshments, or even just encouragement—to show up and give blood. This is where you come in.
Your continued support enables us to:
• Facilitate community blood drives
• Provide transport and refreshments for donors
• Keep our blood bank stocked and ready for emergencies
• Save more lives—one drop at a time
We are deeply grateful for every contribution. You are not just giving money; you are giving life—to a child with sickle cell, to a mother in distress, to a family that might have otherwise lost their loved one.
Thank you for standing with us. The need is still great—but with you by our side, we can keep going.
