This project aims to build 10 new classrooms in the IDP camps of Afrin region in North West Syria, provide salaries for 10 teachers in the classrooms for 3 months, and cover the operational fees (Stationery items, books, chairs, etc.) of these classrooms for a year.
Millions of Syrians are returning to areas where entire neighborhoods, schools, and public institutions were destroyed. According to newly compiled local administrative data, over 40% of Syria's school-aged children-especially in the northern regions-are still not enrolled in school. Many communities no longer have functioning educational facilities. More than one-third of Syria's schools remain damaged, destroyed, or unusable, and thousands of teachers fled or were displaced during the war.
It will focus on the areas in Syria where: Thousands of children have no access to functioning classrooms -Entire school buildings need rehabilitation or replacement -Teachers require support, training, and stable salaries -and crowded learning tents are unsafe and unsustainable. We can solve the issue by making education accessible to more children in camps by -Building classrooms in IDP camps to decrease overcrowding -Covering the operational costs of schools - Covering the teachers salaries.
By restoring access to schooling, this project will: -Prevent thousands of children from falling into child labor or early marriage -Raise a generation of future doctors, engineers, teachers, and community leaders -Strengthen the economy by creating an educated, skilled workforce -Support families returning to their hometowns after years of displacement -Break the psychological cycle of trauma through routine, structure, and mentorship -Build stability and society in war affected communities
