Campaign Update: Build Classrooms and Teach Kids in Syrian Camps

By Samy Refaat | Relations Officer

Your Support Can Reignite Education in a Rebuilding Syria

Dear Supporter,

Thank you for your continued care for the children of Syria. Your interest in education as a tool for healing and rebuilding has brought light to one of the most urgent issues facing displaced communities in Northwest Syria.

As you know, this project aims to build 10 new classrooms in the IDP camps of Afrin, provide salaries for teachers, and supply essential learning materials to give thousands of children the chance to return to school. Unfortunately, due to a current shortfall in donations, the implementation of this project has been paused.

While our teams remain fully prepared to begin construction and mobilize resources on the ground, we cannot move forward without renewed support. With the country now liberated from its former oppressive regime, there is a window of opportunity—perhaps the first in over a decade—to rebuild Syria’s education system from the ground up. But we must act now.

The Need Is Clear:
Over 40% of school-aged children in Northwest Syria are still out of school, leaving them vulnerable to child labor, exploitation, and a life of poverty. By providing safe, equipped classrooms and trained teachers, we can offer these children a new path—one of learning, growth, and future potential.

The Opportunity Is Greater:
With new stability emerging, this is the right moment to invest in Syria’s youth. Your support will help build lasting foundations for education—classrooms where children can dream, learn, and eventually lead the rebuilding of their communities.

We are ready to continue. The only missing piece is the funding needed to reignite this essential work. Your contribution can restart this project and bring real, lasting change to children whose futures are hanging in the balance.

Thank you for your compassion and dedication. Together, we can rebuild futures—one classroom at a time.

With gratitude,
The Bonyan Team
