Community Kitchen Report
The community kitchen continues to thrive and remains one of the most vital and beloved spaces in our center. It serves not only as a place to share meals, but also as a vibrant hub of connection, culture, and care.
Twice a week, a talented woman from Syria prepares delicious traditional dishes that have become a highlight for many. Her meals are so well-loved that people come specifically to enjoy her cooking. Beyond that, other community members have also stepped up to share recipes from their own cultures, turning the kitchen into a celebration of diversity and culinary exchange.
Recently, we've had the pleasure of tasting Bolani from Afghanistan, dishes from Egypt, and many other fabulous meals. These moments offer much more than food—they build bridges between cultures and bring people together through shared experiences.
In addition to the main meals, we also engage in simpler kitchen activities with our participants, like baking banana bread and making fresh lemonade. Given the summer heat, staying hydrated has become essential, and we’re drinking a lot of water and enjoying refreshing drinks together.
One of the most meaningful parts of the kitchen is how it brings everyone together. We don’t just cook—we eat side by side, share stories, and spend valuable time as a community.
We are also incredibly grateful for a recent generous donation of rice, sugar, potatoes, and oil. These essential ingredients have helped us continue providing nourishing meals and allowed us to stretch our resources even further.
The community kitchen is more than just a place to cook—it’s a space of warmth, belonging, and shared joy.
